“ REBIRTH OF CONSCIOUSNESS “

Luis Carlos Velásquez is a Long Island native with Colombian
roots, who grew up in Freeport, Long Island, and graduated from
Freeport High School. He attended Art courses at Nassau Com-
munity College, and studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn N.Y.
He later enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 2006. He has been drawing and painting since early childhood, but it was not only until 2007 that he started to paint on canvas. He received a certificate of recognition from the Town of Hempstead, New York for his collective exhibition in celebration of “Hispanic Heritage Month” in 2007. In a collective exhibit, “Opening Doors to the Americas” held at the Brentwood Public Library in December 2007, he received another certificate of recognition for his work. In 2006 illustrated “Remembranzas” a book of poems." New York book Expo 2007 ". He is an active member of “Ikarus Gallery Cultural Program of Long Island”, a
member of the “Long Beach Art League,” and he has been involved
in many group exhibits in community events in New York.
“Rebirth on Consciousness,” is a collection of paintings that are
deeply moving and visually exciting. His colorful work in mixed
media brings to life powerful images of exotic animals, and exuberant
female forms. The compositions are strong and portray a feeling of
reality, and the abstract.
His work reflects both appreciation and love for nature and the
environment.
